//Al Seed and Judith Milligan Present:
The Shadow of Heaven
in production with Feral Arts and Macrobert Arts Centre
The Shadow of Heaven is an explosive, hour-long journey through Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost, emphasising the work’s visceral, physical and musical qualities.
Describing Satan’s quest from the depths of hell up to the Garden of Eden – and his meeting with Eve – this highly imaginative adaptation seeks to present the theatrical dynamism at the heart of Milton’s seminal work; which he originally imagined as a piece of tragic theatre.
This production springs from the long-term collaboration of Al Seed and Judith Milligan, who have spent the past two years exploring the interplay between the theatrical forms of Tragedy and Bouffon.
Written by John Milton, adapted by Al Seed and Judith Milligan

"It's like a Hieronymous Bosch painting made flesh, and a carnivalesque fever dream. It exists,fully-formed, seemingly of its own time and space."
Lorna Irvine - The List
"The Shadow of Heaven seems to exist in some separate, timeless world, far removed from our own. As a piece of theatre, its strength lies primarily in its sensory appeal, with its visually spectacular imagery and unconventional soundscape."
Oog, winner of the Total Theatre Award for best physical / visual theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe 2015, is the latest dance-theatre piece from performer-director Al Seed. Oog is an intensely physical, and poetic, exploration of the trauma of conflict and the lasting psychological damage it can inflict, utilizing movement work and a powerful soundtrack from Guy Veale to lead audiences deep into the fractured mind of a shell-shocked soldier.
Oog is Al's first entirely movement-based work since The Factory, to which it is a companion piece. The Factory won the Jury Prize at the Arena Festival, Germany, 2006, was shortlisted for a Total Theatre Award, and enjoyed performances at the ICA, London as part of the London International Mime Festival.
Oog is produced by Feral was made with the support of Creative Scotland and The Arches.

// The Tapping
Based upon Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Raven’, and drawing upon the myth of Orpheus’ descent into the underworld, The Tapping is a gothic-horror melodrama that draws its audience down a hallucinatory spiral of madness and – perhaps – revelation, set against the stunning backdrop of Paisley Town Hall’s Loggia.
